For a mostly static Malayalam music playlist, start with OBS using H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and a bitrate matched to your output resolution and stable upload capacity. YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p30 or 4 Mbps for 720p30, plus upload bandwidth with 20% headroom. Before going live, clear the rights for every track: owning a recording or having a music subscription does not by itself establish permission to livestream it.
Recommended OBS settings for a static playlist
YouTube accepts RTMP or RTMPS ingestion and recommends RTMPS. Its current encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video, up to 60 frames per second, constant bitrate (CBR), and AAC or MP3 audio. The settings below give a practical starting point; your computer’s encoder options and measured upload stability determine whether they will work reliably.

For H.264, YouTube’s recommended video bitrates are 6 Mbps for 720p60 and 6 Mbps for 1080p60. Use a 60 fps output only if your visual design benefits from it and your encoder and network can sustain the additional load. YouTube transcodes streams for different playback formats; OBS’s guidance says consistent keyframe intervals help quality selection transition smoothly. Configure OBS and connect it to YouTube
- Confirm live eligibility. YouTube says a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and meet its minimum age requirement of 16. Check current eligibility in YouTube Studio before preparing the broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guidance.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open the live-stream setup and create or schedule the broadcast. Check the stream’s visibility and any scheduling, latency, DVR, auto-start, or auto-stop options against your needs. Lower latency can increase buffering; it is generally less important for a playlist that is not interacting with viewers. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube’s setup and enter them in OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it in Studio if you think it has been exposed.
- Set the video output. In OBS, choose the supported encoder and configure H.264, CBR, the chosen resolution and frame rate, the matching YouTube-recommended bitrate, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Encoder names and available options vary by operating system, OBS version, and hardware, so do not assume one preset or encoder is available on every computer.
- Set audio output. Configure stereo audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps using AAC or MP3, and verify that the music is audible and not distorted in the preview.
- Test before the public broadcast. Run a test with audio and visuals similar to the intended playlist. YouTube recommends enough upload capacity for the total stream bitrate plus 20% headroom. Check the preview, stream health, and any warning messages in Live Control Room; monitor audio and video quality rather than treating a successful start as proof of an uninterrupted stream. - Start and supervise the stream. Start the OBS stream and confirm that Live Control Room reports a healthy incoming signal before relying on it. Decide who will check the broadcast and what to do if the computer, encoder, or internet connection fails; YouTube’s testing guidance does not mean OBS has automatic failover configured.
Clear Malayalam music rights before streaming
Do not treat technical setup as music permission. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. - Confirm that the rights you hold cover livestream transmission on YouTube, the intended territories, and every track in the playlist. The necessary permissions depend on the repertoire and license terms; a purchase, subscription, or possession of an audio file alone does not establish these rights.
- If you licensed third-party content, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that a licensed stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted: “If you’ve licensed third-party content to use in your stream, ask the owner of the content to add your channel to their allowlist through Content ID.”
- Check separately whether your permission covers an archived replay as well as the live broadcast. YouTube says an archived livestream may receive Content ID claims after it ends.
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Plan for a 24/7 broadcast and its replay
A continuous stream is an operations task, not just an encoder preset. Confirm that the playlist source, computer, encoder, power, and internet connection can remain available, then check the stream periodically for health messages, audio interruptions, and visual problems. Keep the stream key secure and make a recovery plan for a dropped connection or stopped encoder.

YouTube’s encoder setup help says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24/7 broadcast is longer, so do not assume YouTube will provide one complete replay. Troubleshoot common problems
