Media Source plays one local file and its Loop setting repeats that file; it is not a playlist. Use VLC Video for a playlist of local clips. If OBS is showing YouTube through a Browser Source, playlist advancement and repeat are controlled by the YouTube player, not Media Source.
First identify what OBS is playing
In the OBS Sources dock, select the source that displays the video and check its type or properties. OBS treats these as separate sources: Media Source plays a local file, VLC Video can play a list of local files, and Browser Source loads a web page. The right fix depends on which one you have.
- Media Source: a video file stored on your computer.
- VLC Video: a playlist of local video files.
- Browser Source: a web page, such as a YouTube player or playlist.

If one local video repeats instead of advancing
That is expected when a single file is loaded as a Media Source with Loop enabled. OBS documents Loop as replaying the file after playback completes. It does not turn a single-file source into a multi-video playlist.

- In the Sources dock, right-click the Media Source and choose Properties.
- To let that file play once and stop, clear Loop. To repeat that same file, leave Loop enabled.
- To play multiple local clips in sequence, use the VLC Video method below instead.
OBS’s Media Sources documentation describes the setting this way: “Loop Specifies whether the file play again once playback has completed.”
Play several local gaming videos in order with VLC Video
For local recordings that should advance one after another, create a VLC Video source and add the clips to its playlist. The Loop Playlist option controls whether playback starts over after the final item; it is distinct from repeating a single Media Source file.

- Install VLC. OBS requires VLC for VLC Video to appear as an available source; when using 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source from the Sources dock.
- Open the source’s properties and add the desired video files to the playlist in the order you want them played.
- Enable Loop Playlist if the sequence should start again after its last clip. Leave it off if it should end after the final clip.
- Confirm the playlist order and test the transition between clips before using it in a live scene.
These settings apply to local files. They do not control a YouTube playlist shown in a browser.
If OBS shows a YouTube playlist in Browser Source
Browser Source loads the URL of a web page. If that page contains a YouTube player, the player and its playlist determine whether playback advances or repeats. Changing the Loop option on a separate Media Source will not configure YouTube’s player.

- Open the Browser Source properties and check that its URL loads the intended YouTube video or playlist.
- Check the player itself: verify the current video belongs to the playlist you meant to show and that the playlist contains the next video.
- Use YouTube’s playlist controls when you want the playlist to repeat. YouTube Help explains how to loop a video or playlist: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube.
- If you want the sequence to play through only once, do not enable playlist repeat. Test the page in OBS, since a browser page’s behavior can differ from a local media source.
OBS’s Browser Source documentation describes loading a web page; it does not promise that a YouTube embed will autoplay or advance in every setup. Refreshing the page when a scene becomes active or shutting it down while hidden are browser-source options, not guarantees of playlist progression.
For a YouTube embed configured with code
Distinguish playing through a playlist from looping it. Google’s IFrame Player API says playlist looping is off by default and documents setLoop(true) to enable continuous playlist playback. Consult the YouTube IFrame Player API reference for the behavior and API requirements.

An OBS community resource describes a script-based embedded player with options such as multiple video IDs, autoplay, and looping. It is a community-maintained example, not an official OBS fix or a compatibility guarantee. Use it only if you are comfortable maintaining the embed, and verify it works with your current OBS and YouTube behavior before relying on it: YouTube Video List community resource.

- One clip repeats: You are likely using Media Source with Loop enabled. Turn Loop off to stop after one play, or switch to VLC Video for multiple local clips.
- Local playlist stops at the end: Check that the clips are in the VLC Video playlist and enable Loop Playlist if you want the sequence to restart.
- VLC Video is missing from the source menu: Install VLC. If OBS is 64-bit, use a 64-bit VLC installation.
- YouTube repeats one item or stops: Check that the video is in the intended playlist and adjust repeat using YouTube’s playlist controls. Media Source’s Loop setting will not fix a Browser Source player.
- The embed does not advance as expected: OBS does not document a YouTube-specific autoplay or advancement guarantee for Browser Source. Check the YouTube player and playlist first; if using a script, treat it as an optional community solution and verify it under your current setup.
