This is a short, curated selection—not an official ranking—chosen for its warmth, dry humor, or quiet wisdom. The verified lines here come from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
The warmest welcome: “Hello there.”
Obi-Wan’s brief greeting to R2-D2 in A New Hope is endearing because it is so simple and unforced. He meets the little droid with easy warmth, turning an ordinary hello into a memorable moment. IMDb’s dialogue listing attributes the line to Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi and places it in his encounter with R2-D2: IMDb’s A New Hope dialogue listing.
The dry, confident one: “In my experience, there’s no such thing as luck.”
This line gives Obi-Wan’s wisdom a wry edge. Its calm confidence makes it feel like a characteristically unruffled reply rather than a grand pronouncement. IMDb’s dialogue listing attributes the line to Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope; it is a secondary attribution, not an official transcript: IMDb’s A New Hope dialogue listing.
Why these lines stand out
The appeal is in the contrast: one line is a small, welcoming gesture; the other is composed and knowing. Fans also frame the familiar greeting as an obvious favorite—one Reddit discussion asks for favorite Obi-Wan dialogue “excluding the obvious Hello There”—but a single thread is anecdotal, not evidence of a measured popularity ranking: the discussion in r/StarWars.
