How Strands hints and the spangram work
NYT instructions reproduced in Parade’s October 24, 2024 guide say to find theme words that fill the board. The spangram describes the theme and touches two opposite sides; it may be two words. Finding every three non-theme words earns a hint, which reveals letters in a theme word. In this puzzle, the spangram connects the top and bottom edges.
