Why the answers fit “Not stirred”
The theme evokes things that can be shaken: a maraca rattles, and a martini can be ordered shaken rather than stirred. SHAKEN is the spangram, the theme-capturing word that runs across opposite sides of the grid. TechRadar’s Marc McLaren described his own reaction to the clue: “The theme clue was really obvious, and as soon as I saw ‘Not stirred’ I thought ‘shaken’!”
