How Strands hints work
Strands uses a six-by-eight letter grid. Connect letters vertically, horizontally or diagonally to form words; a word can change direction as it crosses the grid. Theme words stay highlighted in blue, while the spangram is highlighted in yellow. Theme words fill the board without overlapping.
Finding three valid non-theme words of at least four letters unlocks a hint, which reveals letters belonging to a theme word. Words that earn a hint are not necessarily answers to the puzzle. For this game, reported hint-unlocking words include BOAT, STORE, WOLF, TEAR, TROT and LICE.
