How to play Pips
Pips is a domino-style logic puzzle. Place every domino on the board so that each colored region satisfies its mathematical rule. Depending on the region, that can mean reaching a target sum, matching values, obeying a less-than or greater-than comparison, or using cells marked empty or free. Each half of a domino occupies a cell, and a single tile can affect two different regions.
For a reliable start, look for the most restrictive regions: single-cell sums, zero targets, and small or tightly constrained equality and comparison regions. Keep track of which dominoes remain in the tray as you place tiles, and check both halves against the rules for the cells they cover.

Hints for September 23
Easy
- Begin with the four single-cell sum regions; they sharply restrict which values can go in those cells.
- Next examine the two-cell column that totals 12. It needs two sixes, so find the dominoes that can supply them.
- Keep the second half of each chosen tile in view: it must also work in the region on its other side.
Medium
- Start with the bottom island and inspect the equality pairs and the two-cell sum of 3.
- The tray has no doubles. Each equal-value pair therefore has to be made from matching halves on separate dominoes.
- Use those pair requirements and the sum-3 bottleneck together; a placement that helps one region may constrain another.
Hard
- Use the three-cell equals column as an early anchor.
- Follow the constrained placements outward, checking each tile against both regions it touches; the bottom equality run is another useful area to examine.
- A complete coordinate-by-coordinate hard solution is not established in the available text walkthrough, so do not treat inferred coordinates as verified answers.

Easy answer guidance
Reserve the 6/3 and 6/0 dominoes for the sum-12 column, supplying its two sixes. Use the remaining 5/0, 4/0, and 3/0 dominoes to meet the other listed sums. The walkthrough identifies these tile assignments, but the text does not reliably specify the exact orientation and cell coordinates; use the board visual for those.
Medium answer guidance
The walkthrough uses the 6/5, 6/0, 5/1, 3/0, 3/5, 5/0, and 5/2 dominoes. Apply the bottom-island, equality-pair, and sum-3 constraints together when arranging them. The captured text describes the tile placements but does not provide a dependable coordinate-by-coordinate map, so consult the original board visual for exact cells and orientations.

What is established about the hard answer
The hard board has fifteen dominoes and nineteen regions, with sums, equalities, and strict comparisons. Its guide identifies the three-cell equality column and a bottom equality run as solving anchors, but the extracted walkthrough omits part of the solution. A full placement map cannot be supplied reliably from that text alone.
