Here are representative placements for the Wednesday, March 4, 2026 NYT Pips puzzles: Easy uses a horizontal 5–5 domino in the Equal (5) region; Medium uses a horizontal 3–4 domino for Number (7); and Hard uses a horizontal 6–4 domino for Number (10). The year is identified from the matching dated answer guide because the requested title does not specify one.

Spoilers below. These are examples from each board, not a complete set of placements.

March 4, 2026 Pips answer examples

Difficulty Region rule Domino Placement
Easy Equal (5) 5–5 Horizontal
Medium Number (7) 3–4 Horizontal
Hard Number (10) 6–4 Horizontal

These examples are reported in Mashable’s March 4, 2026 Pips answer guide. Consult that guide for the full set of board placements; the examples here do not transcribe every domino position.

How Pips works

Pips is a domino-placement logic puzzle. Fill the board with dominoes while meeting the condition shown for each marked region. Depending on the region, the rule may require an exact pip total, matching values, or a total below a stated threshold. Those are examples of rule types, not an exhaustive list.

  1. Read the condition attached to a marked region.
  2. Count the pips in all cells belonging to that region and determine what the rule allows.
  3. Place and, where needed, rotate dominoes so the board is filled and the regional constraints are satisfied.

The game guide describes Easy, Medium, and Hard puzzles. For the March 4 answers above, the dated source provides one representative placement at each difficulty rather than a complete board solution.
