The NYT describes the Crossword as a daily grid filled by solving Across and Down clues. Its help page says difficulty rises from Monday through Saturday; Sunday is a larger grid at roughly Wednesday-to-Thursday difficulty. Tuesday through Saturday puzzles become available at 10 p.m. EST the prior day, while Sunday and Monday puzzles become available at 6 p.m. EST the prior day. These are the Help Center’s stated release times.
The NYT Help Center also describes print-puzzle options, but that does not establish that a physical May 9, 2026 newspaper back issue or a print answer product is available.
