How Connections: Sports Edition works

The New York Times and The Athletic describe the game as asking players to “group sports terms that share a common thread.” Players see 16 words and sort them into four groups of four. The category may be a direct relationship, such as soccer positions, or a less obvious word pattern, such as terms beginning with a WNBA team name.
