Why the tiles fit
Yellow: an AL Central player
GUARDIAN, ROYAL, TIGER, and TWIN point to the Cleveland Guardians, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, and Minnesota Twins, all team names in Major League Baseball’s American League Central.
Green: words before “back” in football
Add “back” to each tile to get four football terms: cornerback, defensive back, fullback, and running back.
Blue: Derrick Henry connections
HEISMAN refers to Henry winning the Heisman Trophy; KING evokes his “King Henry” nickname; RAVENS and TITANS point to NFL teams he played for.
Purple: New Orleans Pelicans
BEY, FEARS, MURPHY, and QUEEN are surnames of players associated with the Pelicans, the team that plays at the Smoothie King Center.

How Connections: Sports Edition works
The board has 16 tiles, which resolve into four groups of four sharing a sports-related connection. A useful approach is to look for a clear literal pattern first—such as terms that form football positions—then test possible team or player associations. If a clue feels broad, hold it until you can account for all four tiles; a plausible single-word association is not enough to establish a group.
