Why these groups fit
Baseball’s NL East
ATLANTA, MIAMI, NEW YORK, and PHILADELPHIA refer to the four city names represented in the National League East. NEW YORK is one tile, not two separate answers.
Basketball words for a slam
DUNK, FLUSH, JAM, and STUFF are used for emphatic finishes at the rim. The clue’s basketball context helps distinguish these meanings from other uses of the same words.
Nike footwear names
BLAZER, CORTEZ, PEGASUS, and SHOX are the shoe names in the group. PEGASUS is part of the puzzle’s footwear category; no product purchase is needed to solve it.
Actors who portrayed football coaches
