Try each clue before looking at the category names or answers.
- Yellow: First with the gossip.
- Green: Grapes with added spirit.
- Blue: Add a word that’s like a big stone.
- Purple: These begin with fast words.
In plainer terms, the sets point toward someone who will not stop talking, strong or fortified alcohol, something “solid as a…,” and words associated with Speedy Gonzales.

The 16 tiles are VERMOUTH, PLYMOUTH, CLASSIC, DASHBOARD, BLABBERMOUTH, DARTMOUTH, LITTLE, PORT, FLYWHEEL, CHATTERBOX, RUSHMORE, MARSALA, WINDBAG, THE, SHERRY, and PRATTLER. You can play on the NYT Games website or mobile experience; the game ends when all four groups are found or four mistakes have been made. TechRadar described this particular board as hard, which is a subjective solver assessment rather than a statistical rating.

Green — Fortified wines
MARSALA, PORT, SHERRY, VERMOUTH
These are wines strengthened with added spirit. Marsala, port, sherry and vermouth are the four drink names hidden among the other tiles.
Blue — ___ ROCK
CLASSIC, LITTLE, PLYMOUTH, THE
Add “Rock” after each tile: classic rock, Little Rock, Plymouth Rock and “The Rock,” a familiar nickname and phrase.

Several tiles look as if they belong together by surface meaning. “Mouth” appears in BLABBERMOUTH and DARTMOUTH, while “port” can suggest both a place and a drink. The reliable way through the board is to test complete relationships: four talkative-person synonyms, four fortified wines, four phrases ending in ROCK, and four words beginning with speed-related terms.
