How Connections works

The New York Times’ Connections Help Center describes a daily game in which players sort 16 words into four groups of four. Groups are marked yellow, green, blue, and purple, from easiest to trickiest. Each puzzle has one solution, but words may seem to fit more than one theme, which is why a plausible grouping can still lead you astray.

You can play through the NYT Games app, the Connections webpage, nytimes.com/theathletic, or the NYT News app. The daily puzzle becomes available at midnight in the player’s timezone, according to the Help Center.

Can you replay puzzle #619?

The NYT says its Connections archive goes back to June 12, 2023 and is available to All Access and Games subscribers. An NYT account is required for archive progress and play history. Archived play can affect some displayed statistics, but not streaks; a completed archive puzzle cannot be replayed. Because subscription and archive access terms may change, check the current NYT Help Center for the latest access details.
