These are the hints and solution for NYT Connections game #1031, dated Tuesday, April 7, 2026. It is an archived puzzle, not the live Connections board for today. Start with the broad clues below; the complete groups appear after a spoiler warning.
Hints for Connections #1031
Try these in order, stopping whenever you have enough to solve a group. The first four clues are from Parade’s April 7 guide; they are that article’s hints, not official NYT clues.
- Like sports or a board game.
- Sounds good.
- Not for certain.
- Words before this thing we’re all experiencing.
For a stronger nudge, Lifehacker’s guide, syndicated by Yahoo, points to a contest between teams; agreement to an RSVP; possible responses to “Can I get you anything?”; and words that precede something people hope to find on other planets.
How the puzzle works
Connections presents 16 tiles. Select four words that share a connection; a correct set reveals its category and color. You have four incorrect guesses before the game ends. The guides say the game is available on the NYT website and in its Games app, and playable on desktop or mobile through the NYT Games site. The usual color sequence is yellow, green, blue, then purple, from easiest to hardest.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

The clues here rely on more than synonyms: some tiles are linked by a shared meaning, while others fit a phrase or a way of describing choices. TechRadar called this board easy and reported its author solved it perfectly; that is one writer’s experience, not an independent difficulty measure.
