NYT Connections #332 is the Wednesday, May 8, 2024 puzzle. Its four groups are shades of red, small amounts of a beverage, synonyms for “choicest,” and words that pair with “BATH.” Start with the progressive hints below if you want to preserve the solve; the complete groups follow in a separate section.

What are the Connections hints for May 8?

The categories progress from the easiest group to the hardest, as reported by the answer guides. These clues reveal the themes without naming the four words in each group.

  1. Yellow: Shades of red
  2. Green: A little bit of a beverage
  3. Blue: Choicest
  4. Purple: Each answer can pair with BATH

Tips to solve Connections #332

Begin with the red shades

Look for words that can name or evoke red hues. BRICK, CHERRY, ROSE, and RUBY form the clearest color-based set.

Read the beverage clue as small quantities

The second theme points to modest amounts or splashes: a DROP, SPLASH, SPOT, or SPRINKLE of a drink.

Try synonyms for “choicest”

BEST, CREAM, PICK, and TOP connect through the sense of being the finest or most desirable. CREAM works in the expression “the cream of the crop.”

Supply the missing word for the last group

For the purple set, add BATH after each answer: birdbath, bubble bath, mud bath, and sponge bath. The shared word is not printed on the board, which makes this group’s connection less direct.
