The final group relies on sound rather than spelling: GREECE sounds like Grease, HARE like Hair, KATZ like Cats, and MAIM like Mame. That wordplay makes these entries look out of place until the musical-title connection clicks.
A practical way to approach this board
Once you spot a plausible set of four, pause to check whether any of its words have another credible role among the remaining entries. Connections is deliberately built around words that can appear to belong in multiple categories, and the musical homophones here are a clear example: their apparent meanings point in different directions from their intended group. Testing alternate readings before submitting can help avoid committing too early.

Replay and release details
The NYT Help Center says the daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone and lists play through the Games app, NYTimes.com, NYTimes.com/theathletic, and the News app. Its current help page says the Connections archive reaches back to June 12, 2023, with access for All Access and Games subscribers.
