The New York Times Help Center describes the format this way: “Players are given 16 words and must find groups of four items that share something in common.” The daily game releases at midnight in each player’s timezone, so the puzzle considered “today’s” depends on location and timing. NYT says the daily game is free to play on supported platforms.
