NYT Connections for Monday, December 22, 2025, is puzzle #925. Use the hints below in order; the full category names and grouped answers are farther down.

Hints for Connections #925

Try the first set without looking at the stronger clues. Each line points toward one group of four words.

  • To flood in.
  • After you!
  • Tarot is another type.
  • Crayola products, but mess with the letters.

More specific clues

  • Incoming.
  • Expected soon.
  • Made of stiff paper.
  • Missing a colorful letter.

Spoiler warning: category names and answers

The complete solution is below.

December 22 Connections answers

Color Category Words
Yellow INFLUX RASH, RUSH, SURGE, WAVE
Green SUBSEQUENT COMING, FOLLOWING, FUTURE, LATER
Blue KINDS OF CARDS BUSINESS, GREETING, MEMBERSHIP, PLAYING
Purple COLORS MINUS LAST LETTER BROW, CYA, PIN, WHIT

How the trickiest group works

The purple words each become a color when you add the missing final letter: BROW becomes brown, CYA becomes cyan, PIN becomes pink, and WHIT becomes white. The other groups rely on meaning: RASH, RUSH, SURGE, and WAVE describe a large incoming flow or sudden increase; COMING, FOLLOWING, FUTURE, and LATER refer to what happens afterward or is yet to come; and BUSINESS, GREETING, MEMBERSHIP, and PLAYING each pair with “card.”

How Connections is structured

Connections presents 16 terms to sort into four groups of four related words. The relationship may be semantic, as with the influx group, or depend on a word transformation, as it does here.
