Why the less obvious words fit
FOOT belongs in the twelve-segment group
TechRadar’s guide author notes that CLOCK, YEAR, and ZODIAC point visibly to twelve, while FOOT fits because a foot contains twelve inches. This is the connection that can make the purple group less obvious.

BULB is a vegetable unit
The same guide explains BULB through garlic, which is bought in bulbs. The remaining vegetable units are an ear of corn, a head of lettuce, and a spear of asparagus.
How to use the hints
Connections asks players to find four words sharing a connection. Try Hard Guides describes each daily puzzle as four groups of four words and says players select four words to submit a guess, with up to four mistakes allowed.
