Why the purple group is tricky
The group is built from word endings rather than a shared subject. Read the last letters of each answer as a keyboard key name: CANTAB, CYBERSPACE, ICAPS, and MAKESHIFT. The other groups are more direct associations: things that can trap you, items used to make tea, and materials or things linked with hardness.

The date mismatch matters when looking up an archived board: the guide identifying #809 gives its date as August 28, 2025, and identifies August 27 as #808. A separate 2024 guide labels August 27 as #443, so month and day without a year are not enough to identify a puzzle.
The New York Times Help Center says the Connections archive goes back to June 12, 2023 and is available to All Access and Games subscribers. Archive play affects several statistics, but not current or maximum streaks. The same help page describes Connections Bot features such as difficulty, ratings, categories, mistakes, and a guess-by-guess breakdown; player statistics are linked to a New York Times account. See the official Connections Help Center.
The Help Center also describes Connections Companion as an open community forum for hints, comments, and difficulty scores. Its comments may contain spoilers, so it is best viewed after an attempt if you want to keep the solution hidden.
