Hints for Connections #319
Use these category nudges to try the grid before reading the answers:
- Yellow: Think of equipment used in a science classroom or laboratory.
- Green: Think of a core, focal point, or place where activity converges.
- Blue: Think of spreadsheet concepts and operations.
- Purple: Each answer can come before the word “language.”

Answers and categories
| Color | Category | Words |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | Lab equipment | BEAKER, DROPPER, GOGGLES, MICROSCOPE |
| Green | Nexus | CENTER, HEART, HUB, NUCLEUS |
| Blue | Spreadsheet terms | CELL, FORMULA, SHEET, SORT |
| Purple | ___ language | BODY, LOVE, ROMANCE, SIGN |
How to solve the trickiest grouping
Keep BODY out of the tempting emotion-and-anatomy set
BODY, HEART, LOVE, and ROMANCE can look like a plausible group at first. But BODY belongs with the phrase-completion category: body language, love language, Romance language, and sign language. ROMANCE is there because it completes “Romance language,” not because it belongs with an emotion theme.

Use BODY to reveal the spreadsheet group
Once BODY is assigned to “___ language,” the remaining CELL, FORMULA, SHEET, and SORT fit together as spreadsheet terms. Their mix of a component, an expression, a document, and an operation makes the category less obvious than a set of four physical objects.
Read “nexus” as a shared idea
CENTER, HEART, HUB, and NUCLEUS all suggest a central point or core. They do not need to describe the same kind of object: the connection is the idea of something central or where activity gathers.
