The NYT Connections puzzle for November 24, 2025, is #897. Its four groups are small kitchen appliances, features of a car’s center console, items seen at airport security, and words ending in color names. The complete solution is below.

Connections #897 answers for November 24, 2025

  • Yellow — Small kitchen appliances: BLENDER, MICROWAVE, RICE COOKER, TOASTER.
  • Green — Features of a car’s center console: AIR CONDITIONER, CUP HOLDER, RADIO, SHIFTER.
  • Blue — Seen while going through airport security: BIN, CARRY-ON, METAL DETECTOR, X-RAY.
  • Purple — Ending in colors: INFRARED, MARIGOLD, STINGRAY, ULTRAVIOLET.

The date, puzzle number, categories, and word sets are corroborated by TechRadar, Forbes, and Try Hard Guides.

Why the purple group fits

Each answer contains a color name at its end: INFRARED, MARIGOLD (gold), STINGRAY (gray), and ULTRAVIOLET (violet). Gray is also commonly spelled “grey.”

The tempting radiation-word red herring

Several board entries can point toward electromagnetic radiation: RADIO, MICROWAVE, X-RAY, INFRARED, and ULTRAVIOLET. They do not form one of the intended groups. Instead, those words belong to separate categories: RADIO is a center-console feature, MICROWAVE is a kitchen appliance, X-RAY is associated with airport security, and INFRARED and ULTRAVIOLET fit the color-ending group. TechRadar and Forbes both note this misleading overlap.

How Connections works

Connections presents 16 words for players to sort into four sets of four based on a shared link. Players select four words and submit a guess; Try Hard Guides describes the game as allowing up to four mistakes. The cited 2025 guides say the game was available through the New York Times website or Games app, and Forbes reported that an NYT All Access or Games subscription provided archive access at that time. Those access details reflect the guides’ 2025 reporting and are not a statement of current subscription terms.
