New York Times Connections puzzle #968 was published Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Its four groups are about cutting food into pieces, providing lodging, golf clubs, and “Memory ___.” If you want to solve it yourself first, use the hints below before opening the answer key.
Hints for Connections #968
The board has 16 words to sort into four groups of four. These hints give one word from each category without listing the complete groups:
- Yellow: cube
- Green: lodge
- Blue: wood
- Purple: hole
How to approach the board
Look for words that share a precise connection, rather than a broad association. A word may seem to fit more than one theme, so check whether all four choices make a coherent set before submitting them.
- Consider the most apparent category early, but test its words against other possible groupings.
- If the game says “one away,” it means one selected word is wrong. Reconsider the least certain word before changing the whole idea.
- Shuffle the board if you are stuck; seeing the words in a different order can make possible groups easier to notice.
