- One group is about ways to reach someone by telephone.
- Look for four components commonly found on a car.
- Four words can be arranged from a very small biological unit to a larger structure.
- For the last group, pay attention to the ends of the words: each contains a unit of measure.

How Connections works
Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared theme. The New York Times says each puzzle has one solution, and that words may seem to fit more than one category. Groups are color-coded yellow, green, blue, and purple, from easiest to trickiest, according to the NYT Connections help page.

The official game releases at midnight in the player’s timezone. The NYT archive is available to All Access and Games subscribers and reaches back to June 12, 2023. Playing an archived puzzle affects statistics but not streaks, and a completed archived puzzle cannot be replayed. Check the NYT Help Center for current access details.
