Nobody 2 brings Bob Odenkirk back as Hutch Mansell, an assassin whose family vacation turns violent. The setup and series rhythms may feel familiar, but director Timo Tjahjanto gives the sequel a bloody action-comedy edge that makes its violence the main attraction.
Does Nobody 2 deliver a fresh story?
Not especially. Hutch is still trying to balance family life with the consequences of his work: he is paying off a debt to the Russian mob, and the job is straining his relationship with his wife, Becca. A trip to the tourist town of Plummerville, including its amusement park, offers the family a break. A clash with local operators and officials turns that getaway into another confrontation with organized crime.

That shape will be recognizable to anyone who has seen the first Nobody: Hutch tries to keep a lid on his violent past, pressure builds, and the people around him are drawn into the fallout. The sequel changes the setting and leans into the family-holiday contrast, but it does not reinvent the character or the basic engine of the series.
How brutal is the action?
Brutality is the sequel’s clearest selling point. Universal’s marketing presents the film as an action-comedy spectacle and emphasizes its fights; the studio’s tagline calls a family vacation a dangerous place for a dad. The R rating in the United States is for strong bloody violence and language throughout. In the United Kingdom, the BBFC rates it 15.
#1 Best Overall
- Runtime: 90 minutes
The change of scenery shapes the tone. The Associated Press described Tjahjanto’s approach as moving toward a bloody vacation-comedy feeling, rather than the more noirish atmosphere associated with the original. That tonal shift gives the sequel a distinct flavor, even as its story follows familiar tracks: the clash between a sunny getaway and Hutch’s capacity for violence is the joke and the set piece in one.
Who made the film, and who returns?
Timo Tjahjanto directs. Derek Kolstad and Aaron Rabin wrote the screenplay; Universal credits the story and characters to Kolstad. Odenkirk returns as Hutch, alongside returning cast members Connie Nielsen, RZA and Christopher Lloyd. John Ortiz, Colin Hanks and Sharon Stone are also in the listed cast.
Rank #2
- Runtime: 90 minutes
Odenkirk remains the center of the film’s contrast: an exhausted family man who can still turn a confrontation into an exceptionally violent problem. The vacation setting gives the returning character a new backdrop, while the sequel keeps the same broad tension between domestic routine and criminal work.
Is Nobody 2 worth watching?
If the appeal of the first film was watching Odenkirk’s mild-mannered family man reveal the violence beneath his ordinary life, the sequel offers more of that dynamic, with the added novelty of a holiday-town setting. It is less compelling as a story that breaks new ground than as a bloody action-comedy built around escalating fights and a deliberately incongruous family vacation.

That makes the recommendation straightforward: watch it for the violence, the tonal clash and Odenkirk’s return, not because it promises a major change in Hutch’s story. The familiarity is real; so is the sequel’s commitment to delivering brutal action.

Does the ending set up another sequel?
The ending has prompted viewers to ask whether another film is being set up, but a question about the ending is not confirmation that a third Nobody has been announced. The available official information here establishes the sequel’s release and home-video formats, not a confirmed follow-up.
