Nina Dobrev announced on June 5, 2024, that surgery following a bike accident the previous month had been successful. She had also described a long recovery ahead; the announcement did not mean that her recovery was complete.

On June 5, 2024, Dobrev shared hospital photos and wrote, “Surgery was a success.” She thanked people who had sent messages and support. RTÉ and Entertainment Tonight reported the announcement, while NDTV reproduced her reported words.
What happened in the bike accident
Dobrev first posted about the accident in May 2024, sharing a before-and-after image of herself on a motorized bike and in hospital. At the time, she said she was okay but faced a long recovery. Early coverage noted that the vehicle appeared to be an electric bike and that she had not detailed how the accident happened.
In later coverage, Dobrev described the vehicle as a dirt bike and said she lost control while doing a wheelie, landing on one leg. Women’s Health reported that she sustained a knee injury and described her surgery as repair for knee damage. This later account provides the more specific description; the early “electric bike” wording was tentative.

What is known about her recovery
In an earlier Instagram Story, Dobrev wrote, “I’m ok but it’s going to be a long road of recovery ahead,” as reported by Women’s Health. Her June 5 statement concerned the success of the surgery, not a medical assessment that she had fully recovered.
The reports covered here do not establish when Dobrev’s recovery was complete or her current medical status. Her June 2024 announcement should therefore be understood as an update about the operation, rather than a later account of her health.
