Yes. The Los Angeles Police Department announced Nick Reiner’s arrest on December 15, 2025, in connection with the deaths of his parents, Robert “Rob” Reiner and Michele Reiner. The case has since advanced from an arrest to murder charges and a grand jury indictment; Reiner has pleaded not guilty, and prosecutors say they will not seek the death penalty.
What happened after the arrest?
The case has moved through several distinct legal stages. An arrest announcement is not a charge, an indictment is not a finding of guilt, and the allegations remain to be resolved in court.

What charges does Nick Reiner face?
The District Attorney’s December 16, 2025 announcement said Reiner faced two counts of murder and a special-circumstance allegation of multiple murders. The August 2026 grand jury indictment included those allegations and also alleged murder by means of lying in wait. The wording matters: these are accusations brought by prosecutors, not conclusions that Reiner committed the crimes.
What is the latest confirmed court status?
In its September 15, 2026 update, the District Attorney’s Office said Reiner had pleaded not guilty and that prosecutors would not seek the death penalty. It listed a motions hearing for October 7, 2026. That date has passed, but the official information available here does not confirm what happened at the hearing or identify a subsequent court date. No outcome should be inferred from the earlier calendar notice.

What the arrest and indictment do—and do not—mean
The arrest and subsequent charges describe the government’s response to the deaths and the allegations it intends to pursue. They do not establish guilt. The District Attorney’s Office explicitly stated that Reiner is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. The indictment’s “lying in wait” allegation should likewise be understood as a prosecutorial allegation, not a court finding.
