What new movies are coming out this weekend?
The release date supported for these four candidates is Friday, October 9, 2026. Cinema United lists Other Mommy as a North American wide release; the Associated Press’s fall movie guide lists the other three films for that date. Here is what those listings establish:

| Film | Release information in the listings | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Other Mommy | October 9, 2026; North American wide release | Cinema United’s calendar defines its wide-release entries as expected to open at 2,000 or more North American locations. That is a threshold for the calendar category, not a confirmed theater count for this film, and it does not mean every theater will show it. |
| The Social Reckoning | October 9, 2026; in theaters; Sony release | The AP describes it as a follow-up to The Social Network, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, with Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg and Mikey Madison as Frances Haugen. |
| Misty Green | October 9, 2026; in theaters; A24 release | The AP identifies Chris Rock as writer and director and Rosalind Eleazar as the film’s lead. |
| Animals | October 9, 2026; theaters and streaming; Netflix release | The AP describes Ben Affleck as director and star and the story as a drama involving a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped. The listing does not establish streaming availability in every territory. |

Which film should you choose?
For a broad theatrical release: Other Mommy
Its scheduled wide-release classification makes it the clearest theater-first option in these listings, but local participation still needs to be confirmed. The available release information does not establish a plot description, genre, or age rating, so check the film’s current official listing and your theater’s details if those matter to your choice.

- New Movies Scooby-Doo, The (Almost) Complete Collection (Blu-Ray) They fell in love with the Scooby-Doo original, Where Are You? TV series were growing up and now I could enjoy more sophisticated Plots and characters, so came the hour-long movies The New Scooby-Doo, and what sets them apart Deliciously and hilariously apart is the marvelous lineup of Celebrity customers Stars The Harlem Globetrotters, Dick Van Dyke, The Three Stooges, Jonathan Winters, Don Knotts, \\\ "Mama \" " Cass Elliot, and Laurel and Hardy, plus the participation of other animated action heroes like Batman and Robin and speed with bugs. It's no mystery that you're in for a classic Good Time!
For a follow-up to The Social Network: The Social Reckoning
The AP identifies this as a follow-up to the earlier film and names its writer-director and two performers with their characters. If those connections are your reason to go, confirm the current cast and character information against Sony’s latest materials before relying on it; release details may be updated.
For a Chris Rock-directed film: Misty Green
The AP listing confirms Chris Rock as writer and director and Rosalind Eleazar as lead. It does not provide enough information here to characterize the film’s genre or story, so use a current film-specific listing to decide whether its subject and tone suit you.

- Factory sealed DVD
For a theatrical or streaming option: Animals
The AP describes Animals as releasing in theaters and streaming, giving it a possible at-home route as well as a theatrical one. Its account centers on a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped. The listing does not specify when it will appear on Netflix in each country, so check the service in your territory rather than assuming October 9 streaming access.
How to check what is actually available near you
- Search your local theater listings for each title and the date October 9, 2026. A scheduled release does not guarantee a showtime at every cinema.
- For Animals, check Netflix in your country for an actual watch option and date; theatrical and streaming availability can differ by territory.
- Confirm current release dates and film details close to your visit, since listings and release plans can change.
- If content suitability matters, consult the current local rating and film-specific description. The release listings cited here do not establish ratings for these films.
What this weekend’s listings do—and do not—confirm
These are four candidates from U.S. and North American release information, not a definitive list for every country or viewer. No city-specific showtimes are established here. Cinema United’s wide-release threshold applies to its calendar classification, while the AP provides the October 9 date and brief descriptions for the other titles. A Universal Pictures search excerpt also displayed October 9, 2026, but did not clearly connect that date to a particular film, so it is not a basis for adding another title to this list.
