There is no confirmed Netflix announcement that it has ended its relationship with Zack Snyder, and no new SnyderVerse revival has been announced. Reporting says several Netflix projects tied to Snyder were cancelled or stalled, while DC’s position is a separate question: in 2022, DC figure Jim Lee was reported to say there were no plans for more work on the Snyder Cut material. That describes the plan at the time, not a permanent bar on future rights deals.
Did Netflix officially dump Zack Snyder?
Not on the evidence available. A November 2025 GamesRadar+ report says the Army of the Dead sequel and animated spin-off were reportedly cancelled in August 2024, and describes other proposed projects as cancelled or stalled. Those are claims attributed to reporting; they are not presented as a blanket Netflix statement terminating its relationship with Snyder.

Netflix’s own announcements establish that the company worked with Snyder on projects including Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead. They do not confirm the current status of every proposed project or whether a first-look agreement remains active. The evidence therefore supports a narrower conclusion: some projects reportedly did not move forward, but an official company-wide “dumping” announcement is not established.
What Netflix has confirmed
Netflix announced Rebel Moon as the first feature under a first-look partnership involving Snyder’s production company, The Stone Quarry. That is a historical announcement, not proof that the deal continues today. Netflix’s announcement and Tudum coverage document the film project. Netflix also documented its earlier collaboration with Snyder on Army of the Dead in its official announcement and franchise coverage.

Is the SnyderVerse officially dead?
It is better described as dormant rather than officially and permanently dead. In July 2022, DC figure Jim Lee was reported by Forbes as saying there were “no plans for additional work” on the Snyder Cut material. That is meaningful evidence that DC had no active plan then; it does not establish that revival is legally impossible or that a future rights arrangement could never happen.
The broader DC landscape has since shifted toward a new DCU under DC Studios. A 2025 account discusses the DCEU’s cancellation and the new direction, while treating a SnyderVerse revival or licensing path as hypothetical rather than announced: CBR’s overview. No revival deal is established by that discussion.

What Jim Lee’s 2022 comment means
Forbes transcribed Lee’s answer as: “I think the Snyder Cut was Zack’s vision realized, and it was a really satisfying story he told, but there’s no plans for additional work on that material.” The wording is a secondary report’s transcription of remarks at San Diego Comic-Con, so it should be understood as reported wording rather than an independently verified official transcript. Its date matters: it describes DC’s plans in 2022, not a current announcement that no project could ever be made.

Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead are Netflix projects; they are not chapters in the DC continuity built around Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. A stalled Netflix sequel would say something about that Netflix project, not directly determine whether DC might revisit its Snyder-era characters. Likewise, a DC decision about the SnyderVerse would not itself confirm that Netflix has ended every collaboration with Snyder.

| Question | What the available evidence establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Netflix–Snyder relationship | Netflix announced and released Snyder projects, including Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead. | A current first-look agreement or an official blanket termination announcement. |
| Specific proposed Netflix projects | A November 2025 report says the Army of the Dead sequel and animated spin-off were reportedly cancelled in August 2024, and describes other projects as stalled or cancelled. | That Netflix publicly confirmed every reported cancellation or ended all work with Snyder. |
| DC’s Snyder-era continuity | In 2022, Jim Lee was reported to say there were no plans for more work on the Snyder Cut material. | A permanent legal impossibility, or an announced revival under the current DCU. |
What to take away from the headlines
- Read “Netflix dumps Snyder” as a headline framing of reported project setbacks, not as a confirmed Netflix statement ending the relationship.
- Read “SnyderVerse dead” as a description of an inactive path, not proof that a future revival or licensing arrangement is impossible.
- Keep the timelines and franchises separate: Netflix project reports do not settle DC’s plans, and DC’s 2022 position does not settle Netflix’s current deal status.
