Yes—Netflix has renewed Bet for a second season. Season-two filming reportedly wrapped in Toronto on August 14, 2026, but Netflix has not announced a premiere date in the sources available. A summer 2027 arrival is one outlet’s estimate, not a confirmed release window.
Is Bet renewed for season 2?
Yes. Netflix confirmed the renewal in its June 25, 2025 explainer. That announcement established a second season, but did not give a release date.
When does Bet season 2 come out?
No official season-two premiere date is established in the cited sources. On August 14, 2026, What’s on Netflix reported that filming had wrapped in Toronto. The outlet projected a possible summer 2027 release by assuming post-production would take a similar amount of time as it did for season one. That is a secondary outlet’s estimate, not a Netflix announcement.
What is Bet about?
Bet is a live-action teen drama thriller created by Simon Barry, the creator of Warrior Nun. At the fictional St. Dominic’s, an elite private school, underground gambling determines students’ social standing. The arrival of Yumeko, a gifted gambler with a shadowy past, unsettles the hierarchy. Orphaned and trained in betting by her mother, she seeks success within the school’s system while pursuing a secret revenge quest with her new friend Ryan.

Is Bet based on Kakegurui?
Yes. Netflix describes Bet as a live-action series based on Kakegurui, the Japanese shōnen manga written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Tōru Naomura. Netflix’s June 2025 article said the manga began in 2014 and had 18 published volumes at that time; that count is a dated figure, not a current total.
Barry has framed the series as an homage and a new take rather than a reproduction of the manga. In Netflix’s June 25, 2025 article, the director and showrunner said: “When the Bet creative team set out to develop a series inspired by Kakegurui, we knew there was no point trying to reproduce the original, as it stands on its own and works perfectly,” Barry tells Netflix. “Instead, we chose to be directed by the spirit Kakegurui inhabits in tone, audaciousness, and fun. To that end, we made something ‘birthed’ from the source material that inspired a new take — one that pays homage to it and doesn’t try to replace it.”
