Yes, Netflix now lets mobile users save and share selected scenes. The feature is called Moments; Netflix’s current help instructions label the playback control Clip. It does not mean Netflix has disabled its normal protected-playback screenshot blocking or that every frame can be saved as a free-standing image.
What Netflix Moments actually does
Moments lets you mark a scene while watching a movie or show, return to it later in My Netflix, replay the title from that point, and share the moment through your phone’s sharing options. Netflix announced the feature on October 28, 2024, first launching it on iOS worldwide and rolling it out to Android in the following weeks: Netflix’s announcement.

That is different from taking an unrestricted screenshot with your device’s standard screenshot command. Netflix’s support page describes saving, clipping and sharing a Moment; it does not promise ordinary screenshots: Netflix Help Center.
How to save and share a Netflix scene
- Open the Netflix app on an Android phone or tablet, iPhone or iPad.
- Start a movie or episode and tap the picture to show the playback controls.
- Tap Clip. Depending on the app version or locale, the control may still be shown as Moments.
- Choose the start and end points. A Moment can be no longer than two minutes.
- Tap Save.
- Use the share option to send it through a messaging app or social platform.
- To find it later, open My Netflix and select your saved Moments.
The saved item is tied to the Netflix title and playback position. It is not documented as an independently downloadable, editable video file.

What the other person receives
The sharing result can vary by app version, operating system, title and destination. Reports describe a Netflix-generated scene card or image, a deep link, or both; Netflix’s own help page does not guarantee a standalone JPEG. See the secondary explanations from 9to5Mac and WIRED.
The link is designed to open the relevant point in Netflix. Having the link is not the same as being able to watch the scene: the recipient may need the Netflix app and an eligible account, and the title must be available in that person’s country. A browser, regional catalog difference or missing membership can prevent playback.

As of August 18, 2026, Netflix’s support documentation lists mobile phones and tablets, not TV apps, computers or web browsers. Creation is therefore a mobile-app feature; do not expect the same control on every Netflix device.
Content that cannot be clipped
- Live events
- Trailers
- Movies and shows being watched from a download
- Netflix games
These exclusions are specified by Netflix at its Moments help page. Availability can also vary by title, country, app version and account rollout.

What to try if Clip or Moments is missing
The following is practical troubleshooting, not a promise that every account or title supports the feature:
- Confirm you are using the Netflix mobile app, not a browser or TV app.
- Update Netflix from your device’s app store.
- Try a normally streamed movie or episode rather than a download, trailer, live event or game.
- Close and reopen the app, then check the playback controls again.
- Open My Netflix in case an earlier Moment was saved even though the control is no longer visible.
- If it remains unavailable, treat the absence as a possible rollout, title, account or app-version limitation rather than using screen-recording or DRM-bypass tools.

Netflix announced the separate Clips discovery experience on April 30, 2026, initially in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and South Africa. An update on July 14, 2026 added Brazil, France, Germany, Korea and Mexico, with more rollout planned: Netflix’s Clips announcement. Clips is not a replacement for Moments and is not the tool for saving your own viewing point.

Privacy, copyright and sharing limits
A shared Moment can reveal the title and scene you are watching. It is Netflix’s controlled sharing flow, not a change to Netflix’s copyright policy or permission to redistribute its programs. Netflix does not document Moments as a way to export, edit or freely repost the underlying video. Screen-recording utilities, browser extensions and DRM-removal tools are unnecessary for this workflow and can introduce copyright, account, security or malware risks.
Ordinary title links are a different option
If you only want to recommend a movie or show, Netflix’s regular mobile sharing function sends a title link without marking a specific scene. Instructions are at Netflix Help Center. An active Netflix membership is required for the person who wants to watch; Netflix does not publish a separate Moments fee or hardware requirement.
