The August 2024 Netflix leak was not a confirmed break-in of Netflix’s subscriber database. Netflix said a post-production partner had been compromised, and contemporaneous reporting identified that partner as localization company Iyuno. Unreleased episodes, workprints, and films associated with several Netflix projects appeared online.
The list below is the most defensible record from contemporaneous coverage, not an official forensic inventory. Netflix and Iyuno did not publish a complete title-by-title accounting, episode counts changed as reports developed, and some titles circulating during the same week were tied to separate distributors.
What happened in August 2024?
The major leak wave became public around August 6, 2024, initially involving anime and animation projects. Reports expanded on August 7 and 8 to include more Netflix films and series. On August 9, Netflix acknowledged that a post-production partner had been compromised. Iyuno separately acknowledged unauthorized access to confidential content and said it was investigating.
What’s on Netflix reported Netflix’s statement and Iyuno’s response, while the Los Angeles Times identified Iyuno in its contemporaneous coverage. Iyuno provides dubbing, subtitling, localization, and related post-production services, which explains why one vendor could have access to unreleased material from many productions.

The reported files included clips, unfinished workprints, episodes, and complete or apparently complete films. Some carried timestamps, watermarks, or “Property of Netflix” markings. Those details describe production assets—not evidence that Netflix customer accounts, passwords, payment records, or the main streaming platform were breached.
Reported Netflix-associated titles
This table covers titles named by multiple reputable reports or tied in coverage to the Iyuno-related incident. “Confidence” refers to the title’s inclusion, not necessarily to the exact amount of material leaked. Release dates are listed as “not stated” where the cited reports did not establish a date.

- Factory sealed DVD
| Title | Reported material | Netflix relationship | Release date in cited reports | Confidence and qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dandadan | Six episodes were reported. | Netflix-associated anime distribution. | Not stated. | High for the title; the six-episode count was an early contemporaneous report. |
| Terminator Zero | The complete season was reported as circulating before release. | Netflix-associated anime series. | Not stated. | High for the title; “complete season” describes what reports said was available, not a Netflix forensic count. |
| Ranma ½ | At least four episodes were reported initially; later online claims described a larger batch. | Netflix-associated anime series. | Not stated. | High for the title; medium for the final episode count. |
| Arcane, season 2 | TheWrap reported five episodes; other early reports described clips or fewer files. | Netflix-distributed animated series. | Not stated. | High for the title; medium for the exact count. |
| Heartstopper, season 3 | Seven episodes were reported. | Netflix series. | Not stated. | High for both the title and the contemporaneous seven-episode report. |
| Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld | Leaked footage or episodes were reported, but no reliable episode total was established. | Netflix-associated animated series. | Not stated. | High for the title; low for any numerical count. |
| Plankton: The Movie | Film footage or the film itself was reported as circulating before release. | Netflix-associated animated film. | Not stated. | High for the title. |
| Spellbound | The animated film was reported as circulating before release. | Netflix-associated Skydance Animation production. | Not stated. | High for the title. |
| Fairly OddParents: A New Wish! | Earlier leaked episodes or material were reported. | Netflix availability or association varied by territory and release arrangement. | Not stated. | Medium as part of the August Iyuno story; earlier leak activity should not automatically be merged with the August batch. |
The title lists were reported by What’s on Netflix, additional What’s on Netflix coverage, TheWrap, and Beebom. None of those reports constitutes an official Netflix inventory.
Episode counts: what the reporting actually established
Counts are not universally settled because files appeared in stages and reports sometimes described clips, workprints, or batches rather than finished masters.

Rank #3
- Food Wars! The Fifth Plate - Limited Edition Premium Box Set [Blu-Ray]
- Dandadan: six episodes were the strongest early figure.
- Terminator Zero: reports described the complete intended season.
- Ranma ½: four episodes were reported initially; later claims said more circulated.
- Arcane season 2: TheWrap reported five episodes, while other early coverage used less precise wording.
- Heartstopper season 3: seven episodes were reported.
- Re:ZERO season 3: one premiere episode was reported in a separate Crunchyroll-related incident.
- Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld: a dependable episode number was not established.
The principal episode-count reporting appears in TheWrap’s account; the early title-and-count coverage is also summarized by Beebom.
Related titles from the wider leak wave
| Title | Reported material | Why it is separate |
|---|---|---|
| Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain | The anime film was reported as leaked. | Coverage did not establish it as a Netflix original or prove that it came from the Iyuno intrusion. |
| Re:ZERO −Starting Life in Another World− season 3 | The premiere episode was reported. | TheWrap associated it with Crunchyroll and described a separate response from that service, not a Netflix subscriber or platform breach. |
TheWrap and What’s on Netflix both distinguished these titles from the core Netflix-associated group.

Earlier or separate leaks that should not be silently combined
Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie
This film was reported as having leaked in full earlier in 2024. Its timing and reporting do not establish that it belonged to the August Iyuno batch.
Earlier Fairly OddParents material
Fairly OddParents: A New Wish! had earlier leak activity before the main August wave. It can be mentioned as related context, but the evidence does not justify treating every earlier file as part of the same intrusion.

What’s on Netflix’s reporting covers these earlier incidents.
What the phrase “Netflix data breach” gets wrong
- Public reporting did not establish a dump of Netflix passwords, payment information, or subscriber records.
- There was no substantiated report that millions of Netflix accounts were hacked in this incident.
- The evidence concerns unreleased media assets accessed through a production-supply-chain partner.
- A title’s Netflix availability does not prove that Netflix owned or exclusively controlled every production file.
“Netflix-Iyuno content leak” is therefore more precise than “Netflix database breach.” Netflix’s statement and the Iyuno attribution are documented in the Los Angeles Times and What’s on Netflix.
What remains uncertain
- The exact number of affected titles.
- The final number of episodes for titles whose files appeared in stages.
- Whether every file circulating during that week came from Iyuno.
- Whether a “full season” meant all planned episodes, all files in one production batch, or all files publicly posted.
- Whether additional projects were accessed but never publicly posted.
Contemporaneous coverage explicitly said the full scope remained undetermined. That is why this article uses “reported” and “credibly associated,” rather than calling the table a definitive forensic list.
How to follow the story without amplifying the leak
- Use official Netflix or Crunchyroll pages for availability and release information.
- Avoid reposted footage, screenshots, spoilers, and unauthorized copies.
- Do not share file names, mirrors, torrent links, or instructions for locating leaked material.
- Remember that availability varies by country, licensing arrangement, and release window.
For legal viewing, check Netflix’s official plan page or Crunchyroll’s official premium page; neither page guarantees access to every title in this article.
