Journey’s Final Frontier Tour is billed as a farewell, but Neal Schon has not said he is retiring from music. In a November 2025 tour announcement, the Journey co-founder described it as “a farewell to one powerful chapter” and said, “I’m not done.” What he plans to release or do after the tour—and what happens to Journey’s lineup—has not been confirmed in the sources available as of October 8, 2026.
Is Journey really breaking up after the farewell tour?
The tour’s farewell label does not, by itself, establish that Journey is permanently ending. Schon’s wording leaves room for the band’s shared chapter to close without declaring that the group will never perform or record again. The reviewed announcements and reporting do not confirm Journey’s post-tour activity or lineup.

In the November 2025 tour announcement from PeoplesBank Arena, Schon said: “While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we’ve shared, I want everyone to know I’m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me, and there are new creative horizons ahead.” That is a statement about his intention to keep making music—not a dated announcement of a solo album or other specific project.
What has Schon said about the tour?
Speaking to the Associated Press in August 2026, Schon called the San Francisco return emotional because “that’s where it all started.” He also said of the show’s direction, “I’m loving it because it’s the type of show I’ve been wanting to do with Journey.” The AP described performances as frequently exceeding two hours, with familiar songs such as “Faithfully” alongside deeper cuts including “Of a Lifetime” and songs from Raised on Radio. That is a reported pattern, not a promise that every concert will have the same length or set list.

AP characterized Journey’s 2026 schedule as more than 100 concerts. Separately, the Prudential Center’s May 12, 2026 announcement said the added North American fall leg comprises 40 dates. Those figures describe the reported full-year run and the additional leg respectively; they are not interchangeable totals.
When is the announced fall leg scheduled to end?
The Prudential Center announcement lists September 12, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles as the fall leg’s opening date and November 28 at Chase Center in San Francisco as its planned final stop. Dates and ticket availability can change, so check Journey’s official tour page for current information before making plans.

Who is in Journey’s 2026 touring lineup?
The lineup named in the May venue announcement—and also reported by AP in August—is Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Arnel Pineda, Deen Castronovo, Jason Derlatka, and Todd Jensen. This is the announced touring lineup, not confirmation of who will remain in Journey after the Final Frontier Tour.

Schon has said he intends to continue making music and sees “new creative horizons ahead.” The reviewed sources do not name a next project, give a release schedule, or establish future solo dates. It is accurate to say he has rejected the idea that he is done with music; it would go beyond the available evidence to say what form that work will take.

- It does: include Schon’s explicit statement that he is not done making music.
- It does not: confirm his retirement, a permanent end to Journey, a post-tour lineup, or a named and dated next project.
