Her first appearance was in the two-part premiere, “Prodigal Son,” which began October 14, 2025. A sneak-peek description also pointed to a possible clue about the Parker family, though that scene detail comes from secondary reporting rather than the official CBS clip listing.
Who does Nancy Travis play on NCIS?
Travis plays Harriet Parker, the sister of Special Agent Alden Parker. CBS identifies Harriet as a Navy vice admiral. The casting announcement described Travis as a guest star; it did not announce her as a series regular. CBS’s August 25, 2025 announcement introduced the character ahead of the season premiere.

When did Harriet Parker first appear?
Harriet debuted in “Prodigal Son (Part 1),” the Season 23 premiere, on October 14, 2025. The story continued in “Prodigal Son (Part 2)” on October 21. CBS’s episode guide says Harriet faces an impossible choice in the second installment as Parker pursues vengeance over his father’s murder. CBS’s episode guide lists both parts and their dates.
What happens in the clip with Parker’s sister?
A TVLine sneak-peek description, published October 7, 2025 and indexed in later coverage, says Harriet visits medical examiner Jimmy Palmer to collect items left by her late father, Roman. In the description, she notices a file labeled “Eleanor Parker,” raising a question about the family’s history. ScreenRant’s coverage points to the TVLine preview.

That scene should not be confused with the official CBS clip listing found for October 14, titled “Go Home Parker.” CBS describes that clip as a disagreement between Parker and Director Vance over a case with personal ties to Parker and his family; the listing does not identify Travis or Harriet. CBS’s clip page therefore does not independently confirm the specific Palmer visit or the “Eleanor Parker” file described in the sneak peek.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does Harriet return later in Season 23?
Yes. CBS lists Harriet in “Deal with the Devil,” dated May 5, 2026. The episode description calls her Parker’s estranged sister and says her return makes an immunity-deal case personal. The appearance gives the premiere’s introduction a later-season continuation, rather than treating Harriet as a one-scene character. The CBS episode guide lists the episode, while CBS’s casting release identifies Travis as Harriet.
