On 27 November 2023, PerthNow reported that singer and actor Natalie Bassingthwaighte had shared an Instagram video showing her holding hands with a woman ahead of her Melbourne performance as support for Christina Aguilera. The outlet described the post as making the relationship public; it attributed the identification of the woman as Pip Loth to the Herald Sun, rather than saying Bassingthwaighte named her in the video.
What Bassingthwaighte’s Instagram post showed
PerthNow’s 27 November 2023 report described a video of Bassingthwaighte and her partner holding hands before Bassingthwaighte went on stage in Melbourne as support for Christina Aguilera. PerthNow characterized the post as the couple going Instagram official. The report did not establish that the video itself identified the partner by name. PerthNow’s account is the contemporaneous coverage of the post.
How Pip Loth was identified
The distinction matters: PerthNow said the Herald Sun identified Bassingthwaighte’s partner as Pip Loth. The report also said Bassingthwaighte had spoken about being in a relationship with a woman in an interview with Stellar magazine the previous week. The Instagram video, the magazine interview and the newspaper’s identification are separate parts of the story; the available contemporaneous account does not show that Bassingthwaighte named Loth in the Instagram post. PerthNow reported both the earlier interview and the Herald Sun attribution.
What she said about the relationship and publicity
As quoted by PerthNow from the Stellar interview, Bassingthwaighte described a “beautiful” new relationship “with a woman who makes my heart smile and makes me happy.” PerthNow also quoted her describing the public interest as “terrifying from the get-go” and reporting that she felt “very overwhelmed” when told the media knew and wanted comment. Those remarks describe her personal experience at the time, not a general account of how people experience coming out. The original Stellar interview was not directly verified in the available coverage; the quotations here are attributed to PerthNow’s report. Read PerthNow’s report.

What later coverage reported
Relationship coverage published after the 2023 announcement added context. WHO reported in September 2024 that Loth worked as a stage manager and that the two had worked together on Jagged Little Pill. In October 2025, WHO reported that Bassingthwaighte proposed to Loth at Niagara Falls. An April 2026 listing for Bassingthwaighte’s Let’s Be Real interview referred to Loth as her fiancée. These are dated reports; they should not be read as an independent confirmation of the couple’s status today.
