Ginna Claire Mason’s Nashville roots meet Louisville’s Derby-week style in Hallmark’s Hats Off to Love. Mason plays Stella, a would-be milliner whose designs bring her into the orbit of a family preparing for the race. The title’s “takes us to the Derby” refers to the film’s story—not evidence that Mason attended the Kentucky Derby.
Who is Ginna Claire Mason?
Hallmark identifies Mason as Nashville-born and raised, and says she earned a BFA in Music Theatre from Elon University. Before Hats Off to Love, she recently completed a multi-year Broadway run as Glinda in Wicked. What is Hats Off to Love about?
Stella’s craft is the story’s entry point into Derby society. Hallmark’s official synopsis says: “Stella designs hats and fascinators for socialite Rosalind and meets her son Christian who’s training a horse to compete in the Louisville Derby.”
Apple TV’s synopsis adds that Stella has wanted to become a milliner since childhood and moves to Louisville to design for Derby week and the race. It says she turns to Christian for help navigating the social scene. That platform description provides extra plot context; it is not a statement from Mason or the filmmakers. Apple TV’s listing

When did it premiere, and where can you watch it?

Hallmark’s title page currently lists Hats Off to Love as “Streaming Now on Hallmark+.” Catalog availability can change, so check the Hallmark+ title page for current access. Hallmark+ and Apple TV show conflicting runtimes—1 hour 24 minutes and 2 hours 1 minute, respectively—and the listings do not explain the difference. Neither figure should be treated as a verified runtime without checking the edition being watched.

Derby week gives Stella’s work a clear purpose: hats and fascinators are part of the social world she is trying to enter, while Christian’s horse connects the romance to the race itself. The setting brings together her millinery ambition, Rosalind’s social circle and the family’s Derby plans. Mason’s Nashville background is a biographical detail Hallmark confirms; it does not establish that she personally attended the race.
