There is no official, all-technique ranking of the strongest Mangekyō Sharingan abilities. Judged by how decisively they can influence a fight, Koto Amatsukami is a leading contender: the official Naruto site describes it as a genjutsu that can alter a target’s intentions without the target realizing it. But comparing mental control with space-time techniques, black flames, and Susanoo requires editorial criteria, not a definitive canon scorecard.
The title’s claim about four undisclosed abilities also needs qualification. Sarada Uchiha’s power is now named: the official Boruto database identified it as Ohirume on October 8, 2025. The available official material does not establish a canonical set of exactly four other characters whose Mangekyō abilities remain undisclosed, so this article does not present speculation as fact.

How to compare the strongest Mangekyō abilities
“Strongest” depends on what a technique accomplishes and what it takes to use. A genjutsu that quietly changes someone’s intentions may be more consequential than a direct attack in one situation; a technique that relocates a target or creates a powerful defense may dominate another. The ranking below is an editorial comparison of demonstrated or described utility, not an official Naruto ranking.
- Effect: Does the ability attack, defend, control, or relocate?
- Targeting and conditions: What must the user see, touch, or set up?
- Encounter impact: Could it decide a fight, or does it have broader influence beyond combat?
- Costs and limits: Include only restrictions established by the cited material; do not assume a technique has no cost just because a source does not specify one.
The six abilities below are strong candidates for comparison, but the available official sources directly substantiate the mechanics of Koto Amatsukami and Ohirume—not a complete, apples-to-apples account of every technique. Detailed claims about the other four should be checked against the relevant manga material or an official reference.

Six formidable Mangekyō abilities
1. Koto Amatsukami: covertly changing a target’s intentions
Shisui Uchiha’s Koto Amatsukami is a genjutsu whose threat lies in how unobtrusively it operates. The NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE’s October 19, 2023 Shisui column describes it as manipulating its targets without them realizing anything is wrong; the altered thoughts can feel as though they arose naturally from the target’s own will. That combination of mental influence and concealment makes it an especially powerful candidate when judging abilities by their potential to change events rather than by visible destructive force.
The same official account recounts that Danzō stole Shisui’s right eye, while Shisui entrusted his remaining eye to Itachi. The surviving eye’s Koto Amatsukami later helps free Itachi from Reanimation control. The account supports the technique’s covert influence and significant narrative impact, but it does not provide a universal comparison of its range, reliability, or cost against every other Mangekyō power.

2. Kamui: a space-time technique
Kamui belongs in a discussion of high-impact Mangekyō abilities because it is a space-time technique. However, the official sources available here do not establish a full account of its mechanics, range, defensive uses, or limitations. Those details should be tied to specific manga evidence or an official reference before making a stronger claim about how it compares with the other techniques.
3. Tsukuyomi: a Mangekyō genjutsu
Tsukuyomi is another plausible candidate, but a ranking needs more than its reputation: it should identify what the technique demonstrably does, the conditions under which it works, and any established limits. The sources cited here do not provide that complete evidence, so no precise comparison of its effects or costs is asserted.

4. Amaterasu: a Mangekyō flame technique
Amaterasu is often included among the most consequential Mangekyō abilities. To compare it rigorously, a published account should ground its specific effects, targeting conditions, and limitations in the manga or an official franchise reference. The official material cited in this article does not supply those details, so its placement here marks it as a candidate rather than a verified rank.
5. Kagutsuchi: control associated with black flames
Kagutsuchi is a further candidate for a strongest-abilities list. Its precise relationship to Amaterasu, user-specific details, and practical limits need to be checked against primary material before they can support a detailed ranking. Those mechanics are not established by the official sources cited here.
6. Susanoo: a powerful defensive and offensive option
Susanoo is frequently discussed alongside Mangekyō abilities because it offers a distinct kind of combat utility from genjutsu or space-time techniques. But a fair comparison needs to specify which user, form, or demonstrated feat is being assessed, as well as any relevant cost. The cited official material does not provide a consistent basis for ranking those variations against the other candidates.

Not as a verified, continuity-independent list. The claim depends on what counts as canon—manga alone, or also anime, novels, and games—and whether “never revealed” means a power has not appeared, has not been named, or has not been explained. Without a defined continuity and evidence for each character’s Mangekyō ownership and undisclosed individual ability, naming exactly four would overstate what is established.

Fan discussions may suggest candidates such as Madara, Izuna, or Fugaku, but discussion alone does not verify that their abilities were never revealed under every continuity. Treat those names as unconfirmed unless a specific source supports the claim and the article clearly defines its boundaries.
Sarada is no longer an undisclosed case
The NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE’s Boruto Database entry for Ohirume, published October 8, 2025, names Sarada Uchiha’s Mangekyō ability. It describes up to four black spheres with powerful gravitational force. Sarada can selectively target what lies within her field of vision, and using the ability carries substantial chakra and eyesight costs. These constraints matter: Ohirume should not be described as unrestricted gravity control.
The official Boruto Volume 6 catalog entry associates Sarada’s awakening with chapters 21–24. A list written before the ability was named may therefore be out of date; Sarada should not be counted among currently undisclosed users.
Where to verify technique details
For a defensible ranking, use the manga scenes that show a technique’s effects and restrictions, then cross-check details against official franchise material where available. The NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE’s Shisui column points to relevant manga scenes, including Volume 49, Chapter 459; Volume 58, Chapter 550; and Volume 62, Chapter 590. Its Boruto database entry supplies specific information about Ohirume, while the Volume 6 catalog connects Sarada’s awakening to chapters 21–24.

Shueisha’s catalog describes Hiden: Sha no Sho as an official Japanese-language data book authored by Masashi Kishimoto, with character profiles and technique entries. The publisher’s catalog page lists a Japanese print edition dated September 4, 2008, and a digital edition dated February 4, 2015; it does not expose the complete entry text for each Mangekyō ability. It is a broad reference, not a dedicated guide to these six techniques.
