The photos showed the toddler from behind or in close-up, without revealing her face, according to reports about the post.
What Naomi Osaka shared with Shai
Osaka’s carousel marked the end of 2024. People, in a report published by Yahoo on January 2, described scenes of Osaka holding Shai on a tennis court, Shai’s small hand resting on her mother’s chest in a black-and-white image, and the two looking toward the ocean while Shai wore a bug backpack. Another photo showed Shai in a white dress in a kitchen. People’s report via Yahoo documented the carousel.
The images conveyed a range of everyday and family settings while keeping Shai’s face out of view. That describes this reported carousel, not Osaka’s posts or choices about her daughter’s privacy in general.
What was the caption?
BCK Online reproduced Osaka’s caption as: “2024 wrap but it’s pics of me and the cutest girl in the world.” The wording framed the carousel as a 2024 recap centered on time with Shai. BCK Online’s report quoted the caption.

Is the Instagram post still available?
BCK Online reported that Osaka later deleted the post. The carousel should therefore be treated as a reported, no-longer-available post; the available account of its images and caption comes from contemporaneous coverage rather than a currently confirmed Instagram link.
Who is Shai?
Shai was born in Los Angeles in July 2023 to Osaka and rapper Cordae, according to The Associated Press. In a separate report dated January 6, 2025, AP said Osaka and Cordae were no longer in a relationship. Osaka wrote, “No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad,” and said she was glad their paths crossed because her daughter was her “biggest blessing.” That later statement is separate from the New Year’s photo post.
