My Hero Academia Season 7 is no longer upcoming: it premiered on May 4, 2024, and concluded on October 12, 2024. The 21-episode season covers the opening phase of the Final War, but it does not finish the anime. The announced My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON continues the unresolved battles involving Deku, Shigaraki, All Might, All For One, the Todoroki family, Ochaco, and Toga.
My Hero Academia Season 7 is complete. It premiered on May 4, 2024, ended on October 12, 2024, and contains 21 numbered episodes: Episodes 139 through 159. The season adapts the opening phase of the Final War, splitting its attention among Deku and Shigaraki, the Todoroki family’s confrontation with Dabi, Ochaco and Toga, the struggle over Kurogiri’s identity, Shoji’s appeal to heteromorphs, and All Might’s desperate battle with All For One.
Season 7 is not the end of the anime. The official continuation, My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON, was announced as the eighth and final television season. It follows the remaining Final War material and begins with story content from around manga Volume 40.

Before the regular season, the launch schedule included four recap installments titled My Hero Academia: Memories. Those episodes began on April 6, 2024, and revisited important earlier events. They are best understood as a pre-season lead-in, not as part of Season 7’s 21-episode count.
How many episodes are in Season 7?
There are 21 numbered episodes. The official episode index runs continuously from Episode 139 to Episode 159:
- Episode 139
- Episodes 140–150
- Episodes 151–159
The numbering reflects the anime’s overall episode count rather than restarting at Episode 1 for the new season. Counting Episodes 139 through 159 inclusively produces 21 episodes.
What is Season 7 about?
Spoiler-light summary: Season 7 begins the decisive Final War between the heroes and villains. The conflict is too large for a single battlefield, so the heroes build a strategy around separating their opponents and forcing key fighters into matchups that might give society a chance to survive.
The season’s central conflict remains the confrontation between Izuku Midoriya—Deku—and Tomura Shigaraki. However, the story deliberately widens its focus. The Todoroki family’s history reaches its most painful stage through Shoto and Dabi, Ochaco Uraraka faces Toga, and several characters confront the damage caused by a society that has often decided who deserves sympathy, recognition, or the title of hero.
Why does the season jump between so many battles?
The fragmented structure is intentional. The heroes’ plan uses Kurogiri’s warp ability, Monoma’s copied Quirk, and a separation strategy to divide the villains across different battlefields. Instead of allowing the enemy forces to fight together, the heroes attempt to isolate them and give individual teams a better chance against overwhelming opponents.
That plan explains why Season 7 repeatedly shifts locations and character groups. The changing battlefields are not unrelated side stories: they are pieces of the same operation. A decision in one fight can affect the balance elsewhere, while the season uses the separate confrontations to examine different kinds of heroism.

Deku versus Shigaraki moves to the center
One of Season 7’s major turning points comes when Deku enters direct combat with Shigaraki after the heroes’ situation at U.A.’s “Sky Coffin” deteriorates. The fight is not simply a contest of physical strength. It is also a struggle over identity, control, inheritance, and whether the person buried beneath Shigaraki’s destruction can still be reached.

Deku also uses the second successor’s Quirk within One For All during this phase of the battle. The ability is part of the larger tactical and emotional challenge of One For All: Deku is carrying the power and expectations of multiple predecessors while facing an opponent whose connection to All For One has made the conflict increasingly personal.
The Todoroki family faces Dabi and Toya’s legacy
The Todoroki storyline receives some of the season’s most consequential dramatic attention. The heroes are not confronting Dabi as an anonymous villain; they are confronting Toya Todoroki and the accumulated consequences of the family’s history.
Season 7 brings the family’s conflict toward a direct confrontation involving Shoto, Dabi, and the rest of the Todorokis. The battle carries a different emotional weight from Deku and Shigaraki’s clash: it asks whether acknowledging harm, guilt, and responsibility can change what has already happened. The season does not reduce the family’s trauma to a simple apology or an easy reconciliation.
Ochaco and Toga’s confrontation
Ochaco’s meeting with Toga is another of the season’s defining character conflicts. Their confrontation connects the immediate violence of the war to the question of who gets treated as a person before they become a threat.

Their scenes give Season 7 one of its clearest examinations of the emotional failures behind the villain conflict. The show asks what might have changed if people like Toga had been understood earlier—and what, if anything, can still be done once the damage is already immense.
Spinner, Present Mic, and Kurogiri
Season 7 also returns to the relationship between Kurogiri and the person he once was: Oboro Shirakumo. Spinner and Present Mic attempt to reach Kurogiri by appealing to that buried identity.
This thread matters because Kurogiri is both a powerful asset in the war and a person whose original self has been obscured by experimentation and manipulation. The conflict therefore becomes more than a question of whether the heroes can use or neutralize his warp ability. It is also a fight to determine whether Oboro Shirakumo can be recognized again.
Shoji’s appeal and the heteromorph discrimination storyline
Episode 153 expands the season’s social commentary through Mezo Shoji and his appeal to heteromorphs. The war has exposed divisions that existed long before the villains’ final offensive, including prejudice against people whose appearances differ from the dominant image of a conventional hero.

Shoji’s role gives the season a broader definition of heroism. The story is not only asking whether the strongest fighters can defeat All For One and Shigaraki. It is also asking whether the society they are trying to save will continue reproducing the exclusion and neglect that helped create its villains.
Armored All Might battles All For One
Near the end of the season, All Might returns to the battlefield in armored equipment for a desperate fight against All For One. Without the overwhelming power that once defined his career, he relies on preparation, technology, analysis, and the example he has left with his students.
The confrontation is significant because it reverses the image of All Might as an invincible symbol. Armored All Might is vulnerable, but he still chooses to stand between All For One and everyone else. His battle is both a tactical attempt to delay a catastrophe and a final demonstration of what his ideals mean when his Quirk can no longer carry him.
How does Season 7 end?
Episode 159 brings together several unresolved confrontations rather than closing the Final War. The finale includes the continuing Deku-Shigaraki battle, the Todoroki family’s crisis involving Dabi, Ochaco’s attempt to reach Toga, and Armored All Might’s fight with All For One.
That structure is important: Season 7 ends at a dramatic midpoint. It delivers major emotional and tactical developments, but it does not provide a complete resolution for the war, the villains, or the anime’s central rivalries.
Is Season 7 the final season?
No. Following the Season 7 finale, the official anime announcement confirmed My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON as the eighth and final television season. The announcement described it as continuing the story from material around manga Volume 40 and moving toward the resolution of the Deku-Shigaraki and All Might-All For One conflicts.
In other words, Season 7 is the beginning of the anime’s final-war endgame, not its conclusion. Any current information about the Final Season’s episode total, exact finale date, dub schedule, or catalog availability should be checked against the latest official announcement because those details can change.
Where can you watch Season 7?
Crunchyroll announced Season 7 streaming and is the first service viewers should check. Availability can vary by country, subscription tier, language track, and catalog window, so a historical launch announcement should not be treated as a guarantee that every version is currently available in every territory.

What manga volume continues the story after Season 7?
The safest high-level handoff is to the officially published manga material around Volume 40. The anime’s Final Season announcement identifies Volume 40 as the point from which the continuation begins, but anime and manga boundaries can overlap. Readers who want a completely seamless transition should check the chapter-to-episode correspondence before selecting an exact starting chapter.
