My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode 18 is overall episode 156, titled “It’s A Small World.” First broadcast in Japan on September 21, 2024, it turns the Gunga battle into a coordinated defense against All For One—and ends with a major shift in who is attacking whom. Spoilers follow.
What happens in “It’s A Small World”
At the Gunga Villa ruins, Tokoyami, Hawks and other heroes try to hold off All For One. Shiketsu High students Yoarashi, Shishikura and Camie join the fight, widening what had been a desperate defense into a broader team effort.
All For One rejuvenates and grows stronger, putting the assembled heroes under pressure. Tokoyami counters with Dark Shadow’s “Black Ankh Baldur” attack, but the larger challenge remains: keep All For One occupied as the battle escalates.
Meanwhile, at the Jaku Hospital ruins, Ashido and the others overcome the villains. Kirishima’s group then arrives at Gunga with Gigantomachia. Shinso has brainwashed the giant, and Gigantomachia turns on his former master, All For One. The episode’s official synopsis frames this as a question of whether the heroes’ combined strength can stop him.

Why the reversal matters
The episode’s central idea is collective action. No single hero or school can answer All For One’s growing power alone; the defense depends on people with different abilities arriving and buying one another time. Shiketsu’s participation makes that teamwork visible, while the Jaku developments connect a separate fight to the crisis at Gunga.
Gigantomachia’s arrival changes the immediate shape of the confrontation: a former subordinate becomes a threat to All For One. That is a strong structural turn because it converts an enemy’s overwhelming force into a complication for the enemy himself. The key question for a viewer is whether the episode gives the coordinated defense enough room to make that payoff feel earned, rather than treating the arrival as a shortcut to a new advantage.

What to watch for in the battle
Can you track the two battle sites?
The story moves between Gunga and Jaku. Those locations matter to the cause-and-effect chain: Ashido’s group’s success at Jaku and Shinso’s control of Gigantomachia set up the reinforcements at Gunga. Notice whether the transitions keep those developments clear while the ensemble grows.
Does the ensemble stay readable?
Tokoyami, Hawks, the Shiketsu students and the arriving group each contribute to a fight that is larger than a one-on-one matchup. The episode’s dramatic focus depends on keeping those contributions distinct as the pressure rises.

How do spectacle and character stakes balance?
Tokoyami’s “Black Ankh Baldur” attack offers a concentrated display of power; Gigantomachia’s turn carries a different kind of weight because it changes the relationship at the center of the conflict. The contrast between a signature move and a character-driven reversal is a useful way to judge what the episode wants its climactic beat to accomplish.

VIZ lists My Hero Academia, Vol. 38 in paperback and digital editions. It is related reading for the broader All For One conflict, not a complete single-volume source for the episode’s adapted material: a fan-maintained episode reference maps the installment to chapters 382–385, a range that crosses volume boundaries.
