The available reporting supports four cases with useful detail—not a reliable ten-person list. Here are those documented exchanges, with the distinction between public criticism and a direct musical response made clear.
What counts as a public diss?
These disputes took different forms: an interview, a run of songs, or a podcast response. Calling every one a “diss track” would blur an important distinction. The entries below identify the documented act and Eminem’s response where the cited account reports one.

Moby: criticism followed by a change in tone
Moby publicly criticized Eminem’s lyrics, and Eminem mocked him in the song and video for “Without Me.” In a July 28, 2005 Associated Press report, Moby said that he had gained respect for Eminem’s political criticism. During a promotional stop in Hong Kong for his album Hotel, he also called the attention “some of the best publicity I’ve ever had.” The exchange is better understood as a disagreement whose tone shifted than as a continuing feud. Associated Press via CBS News, July 28, 2005.
Machine Gun Kelly: a back-and-forth across songs and interviews
Kelly released “Rap Devil” after Eminem’s “Not Alike,” which appeared on Kamikaze. The Independent also described an earlier Kelly line on Tech N9ne’s “No Reason (The Mosh Pit Song)” as a reference to Eminem’s “Rap God.” The sequence is more involved than a single provocation followed by a reply. In an interview with Sway, Eminem said his reason for responding was more complicated than the commonly repeated account centered on Kelly’s comments about Eminem’s daughter. The Independent, September 14, 2018.

Mariah Carey: songs and public performance, with personal claims disputed
A 2024 American Songwriter retrospective describes Carey’s “Clown” and “Obsessed” as musical responses to Eminem’s references to her. It identifies Eminem’s “The Warning” as a reply to the “Obsessed” video. The songs and public exchange can be described without treating the disputed personal claims behind the dispute as established fact. American Songwriter, May 31, 2024.
Joe Budden: a podcast answer and an earlier professional connection
On September 5, 2018, Budden answered Eminem’s Kamikaze-era lines in a podcast episode, according to TheWrap. Budden had also criticized Eminem’s Recovery, so the disagreement did not begin with Kamikaze. Their history includes a professional link: Budden was a member of Slaughterhouse, which was signed to Eminem’s Shady Records. TheWrap, September 5, 2018.

Why this is not a definitive ten-name list
A roundup published by EarlyGame in August 2026 discusses other artists, including Snoop Dogg and Lord Jamar, among Eminem’s public clashes. It is a secondary list, not enough on its own to establish a specific person’s remark, date, or the nature of the exchange. Without a stronger account or an underlying interview, recording, post, or song, adding names would make the count look more certain than the evidence allows. EarlyGame, August 2026.

How to read the disputes
- Public criticism is not necessarily a diss track. Moby’s criticism and Budden’s podcast response differ from Kelly’s and Carey’s song exchanges.
- Sequence matters. The Kelly exchange involved multiple songs and comments, while Carey’s account is presented retrospectively and includes disputed personal claims.
- Relationships can complicate the story. Budden’s criticism unfolded alongside a prior connection through Slaughterhouse and Shady Records; Moby later spoke positively about aspects of Eminem’s work.
