Associated Press informó el 19 de enero de 2026 que el comunicado no especificó una causa. No se ha comunicado en ese reporte una enfermedad ni otra explicación, por lo que no corresponde atribuirle una.

Conservó su atelier en Roma, aunque presentó la mayoría de sus colecciones en París. Giancarlo Giammetti fue su pareja y socio empresarial. Garavani se retiró en 2008, según Associated Press.

El documental sobre Valentino
Valentino: The Last Emperor se presentó en Roma en 2009 con Garavani. Associated Press confirma ese vínculo con el documental, pero esa referencia no establece que exista actualmente una edición física ni que esté disponible en una plataforma de streaming. Conviene comprobar el formato y el catálogo vigente antes de buscarlo como producto o servicio.
Al recordar su manera de entender la moda, Associated Press le atribuyó esta frase: “I know what women want,” he once remarked. “They want to be beautiful.” La fuente no precisa cuándo ni en qué contexto la dijo. En el comunicado reproducido por AP, la fundación lo describió como “a true source of light, creativity and vision.”
