Their plan to confront her widower becomes a story about old wounds, loyalty and making peace with the past.
What is Moving On about?
Claire and Evelyn meet again at the funeral of their mutual friend, Joyce. Claire tells Joyce’s husband, Howard, that she intends to kill him, setting a revenge plan in motion. The story then follows the women as they reckon with what happened in the past, their friendship with each other and the possibility of reconciliation. The film’s official synopsis describes the widower as the target of their revenge and also notes Claire’s reunion with Ralph, her great love.
The premise has a sharp comic hook, but the film is not simply a revenge thriller. Its focus is also on the bond between two older friends and the way past harm can shape relationships long after the original events.

Why is the film listed as both 2022 and 2023?
The two years refer to different milestones. The BBFC identifies Moving On as a 2022 production, while Rotten Tomatoes lists its limited U.S. theatrical release as March 17, 2023. Including both years helps distinguish this film from other works with the same title, including a separate 2020 Korean film.
Content guidance
The British Board of Film Classification lists strong language and references to sexual violence. Its advice says a woman recounts a rape from her past, which her assailant denies, and notes that a homophobic slur is challenged in the film. These details may help viewers decide whether the subject matter is right for them.
