Monica Savage, mother of 17-year-old rapper Raleigh Freeman III, known online as Rylo Huncho, told WVEC after his death: “I just want my baby back. That’s all I want.” Freeman died after a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Suffolk, Virginia, on May 15, 2024. Suffolk Police said their preliminary investigation indicated the incident “may have been accidental in nature”; the May 2024 reports described the investigation as ongoing.

What did police say about the circumstances?
PEOPLE/Yahoo quoted Suffolk Police as saying: “The preliminary investigation conducted by the Suffolk Police Department indicates that this incident may have been accidental in nature.” The wording was preliminary and qualified, and the report said the investigation was ongoing. The May 2024 coverage does not establish whether officials later issued a final public conclusion.
A “self-inflicted” wound describes how the injury was caused; it does not, by itself, establish intent. The police assessment reported at the time likewise did not amount to a final determination.
