What is Mother Mary about?
A24’s synopsis centers on Mother Mary’s reunion with Sam as long-buried wounds come to the surface before a comeback performance. In its December 3, 2025 trailer report, Variety adds that Mother Mary had abandoned her tour amid an existential crisis before seeking Sam out. The story’s emotional and professional stakes are bound together: Sam once helped shape the star’s public image, but the two are now estranged.

What does the trailer establish?
The trailer coverage introduces the fraught reunion and the pressure surrounding Mother Mary’s comeback. It offers a glimpse of the film’s pop-star setting, but plot specifics beyond the published synopsis and trailer reporting should be treated cautiously; the sources do not establish every trailer image as a complete account of the story.
