A short Mortal Kombat 2 teaser featuring Karl Urban as Johnny Cage arrived on July 16, 2025, ahead of the full trailer scheduled for July 17. The exact premiere time reported at the time was inconsistent, and the film’s original October 2025 release date has since been replaced by its 2026 release schedule.

Insider Gaming reported on July 16, 2025, that Warner Bros. had released a short teaser offering a first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage. The report introduced the character as the notable reveal ahead of the full trailer. Read Insider Gaming’s July 16 report.
When was the full trailer released?
Contemporary reports agreed that the full trailer was scheduled for July 17, 2025, but disagreed on its planned premiere time. Insider Gaming listed 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT, while GameSpot listed 11:05 a.m. ET/8:05 a.m. PT. Since those accounts conflict, the date is more reliable than either reported time. The film’s release date changed
The July 2025 teaser report gave October 24, 2025 as the theatrical date. That date is no longer current. Warner Bros.’ official Mortal Kombat II site now lists the film as playing in theaters and available digitally and on 4K Ultra HD. It gives May 8, 2026 as the North American theatrical date and says international release began May 6, 2026.
