Morgan Wallen pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment on December 12, 2024. His sentence included seven days at a DUI Education Center and two years of supervised probation. The seven-day term was not described as time in a conventional jail.

What was Morgan Wallen sentenced to?

At the December 12, 2024 hearing, Wallen received seven days at a DUI Education Center and two years of supervised probation, according to the Associated Press. AP reported the full sentence as 11 months and 29 days on each count, suspended except for the seven days. ABC News reported that Wallen was also ordered to pay a $350 fine and court fees, citing his attorney.

The sentence followed Wallen’s guilty plea to two misdemeanor reckless-endangerment counts. AP reported that Judge Cynthia Chappell asked how he would plead and Wallen answered, “Conditionally guilty.”

What happened in the chair-throwing incident?

The case arose from an incident at Chief’s, a six-story bar in downtown Nashville, on April 7, 2024. A chair fell from the rooftop onto Broadway near two police officers. The Associated Press’s contemporaneous account said it landed about three feet away; the cited reports do not say that anyone was struck or injured.
