Will Moon Knight return to the MCU? The latest update is encouraging, but it is not a Marvel announcement: on May 4, 2026, series creator Jeremy Slater said Oscar Isaac remains creatively involved in the character’s future and that more stories would depend on finding one Isaac is excited to tell. Slater also said he had no inside information and did not know whether a return would be a second season, a film, or an ensemble project.
What the latest update actually says
In a May 4, 2026 interview with ComicBook.com, Slater described Isaac’s contract as allowing for more stories when the right story emerges. He said Isaac is “really creatively involved in the future of that character.”
That describes a creative condition, not an approved production. Slater said he had not spoken with Marvel in three years, had no inside information, and was “as much in the dark as everyone else” about what might happen. He specifically did not know whether the character’s next appearance would be in a second season, a Moon Knight movie, or a Midnight Sons movie. His hope that Isaac will return was his own speculation as a fan.
Is Moon Knight season 2 confirmed?
No second season has been confirmed in the statements cited here. In February 2025, Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum told ComicBook.com, “I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.” He did not identify a format, release date, or Isaac’s involvement.

Slater’s 2026 comments do not cancel out Winderbaum’s broader remark, but they do not clarify what those “plans” are or whether they remain active. The two statements come from different people and establish different things: an executive spoke generally about plans down the road, while the creator later said he lacked current inside knowledge and named no approved project.
Could Moon Knight return in a movie or crossover?
A film and an ensemble appearance are possibilities Slater mentioned, not announced projects. In a May 2022 interview with TheWrap, director and executive producer Mohamed Diab said he would like the opportunity to make a Moon Knight film. He also wanted to explore Jake Lockley’s point of view, the changed dynamic between Marc and Steven, and Layla’s path after becoming an avatar. Those were his creative interests, not a Marvel commitment.

In the same reporting, executive producer Grant Curtis said the character could “go anywhere in the MCU” and fit into different storylines, while declining to say what would happen to Isaac. That describes creative flexibility, not confirmation of a crossover. No specific Moon Knight movie or Midnight Sons project is established by these comments.

The series told a relatively self-contained story, but its finale introduced Jake Lockley as another identity associated with Khonshu. That leaves character material a future story could explore; it does not demonstrate that Marvel intends to continue the thread. Diab’s interest in Jake, Marc and Steven, and Layla is a director’s wish for possible stories, not evidence of a planned sequel.
