The headline refers to Milana Dravnel, who told People en Español in 2007 that she took photographs purportedly showing boxer Oscar De La Hoya dressed as a woman. Dravnel said she was pressured to make them public, but also said she could not personally verify their authenticity. The article did not establish whether the images were genuine or altered.

What did Milana Dravnel say?

In its September 24, 2007 article, People en Español described Dravnel as a 22-year-old Russian exotic dancer and model. It reported that she acknowledged taking the photographs with her personal camera. Dravnel said she had lost a disk containing the images after showing it to a friend at a birthday party.

Dravnel’s statement about the images was explicit: “I cannot personally verify the authenticity of the images.” She also would not confirm whether they had been altered in Photoshop. Those remarks do not establish who created or changed the images, or whether they accurately depicted De La Hoya.

What did she mean by “pressured to go public”?

Dravnel said that unnamed people had pressured her to speak publicly about the photos and accused them of acting for financial gain. In the article, she said: “I was pressured into going public with the photos by certain individuals who had improper motives and acted solely for their own financial gain. I have not received any money from the sale or use of these photos.” The article did not identify those individuals or independently verify her allegation.

What did the article report about the disputed photos?

The account records changing statements about possible alteration. It says Dravnel denied alteration in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, then quotes her retracting what she had told the program and saying that many statements attributed to her were false or inaccurate. The article does not resolve whether the images were doctored.

People en Español identified X17online.com as the agency that published the images and reported that Dravnel asked the agency to remove them. It also reported that she apologized to De La Hoya and his family for the embarrassment she had caused. That is historical reporting; it does not establish the images’ present availability or legal status.

What did Dravnel and De La Hoya’s lawyer say about their relationship?

Dravnel described her relationship with De La Hoya as platonic, telling the magazine: “Mr. De La Hoya and I had a platonic relationship. We did not have intimate relations.” The article also quoted De La Hoya’s lawyer, Bertram Fields, as saying De La Hoya knew Dravnel and believed the photographs were phony: “Oscar does know the woman…But he assures me that the photos are phony.” These are attributed positions, not findings independently established by the article.

What the 2007 article establishes—and what it does not

The article identifies Dravnel as the person who said she took the photos, and records her claim that she was pressured to go public. It also preserves her uncertainty about authenticity and conflicting statements about alteration. It does not determine whether the images were genuine, altered, or otherwise accurately represented, nor does it verify the people she said pressured her. These details come from People en Español’s September 24, 2007 report.
